Prior to my trip, I had stumbled upon polarizing filters. I was talking with a colleague about polarizing filters and wanted to learn more about them. At that time I didn’t know anything about them, thus the research started. I initially assumed that they were just lens protectors. However, what I found was that polarizing filters are used to remove glare from reflective surfaces and also increase contrast when taking pictures of the sky. Thus the contrasts of a cloud are magnified. Basically you would see better definition of a cloud. Additionally, when taking pictures of moving water, you are able to create some dynamic shots while utilizing a polarizing filter when you decrease the shutter speed (Still have to try this one out).
The purpose of my travels to Den Helder, Netherlands was for work. Den Helder is a small little city that is about an hour north from Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is home to Netherlands main naval base. I have to admit the several times I’ve travelled to Den Helder, the sky was always breathtaking. Prior to this trip, I had decided to purchase a polarizing filter and tripod. I had a wonderful time walking around Den Helder.
I have to admit travelling with the new tripod was a little daunting at first. My old tripod is clunky and heavy. I was travelling for two weeks and I had to take additional equipment for work. I purchased a new Mefoto Carbon fiber Globetrotter tripod. I have to admit that it is sooooo much lighter and durable than my previous tripod. I have to admit, I truly love the color. I also love the fact that it easily converts to a monopod. I’m a big fan of the new purchases.
So what is next… I will also be getting the Christmas Card Catalog together to help my clients. I will also be getting ready for Ken and Kim’s wedding in July. They are a wonderful couple and are going to have a joyful event. I will discuss more in the future. Well until next time…
